Snow Day in Broadway

It finally happened, the thing I've been waiting and hoping for. We woke up this morning to 5 inches of snow blanketing our community. I ran around the house opening all the blinds just so I could see the glimmer from every spot in our house. I know Mike thought I was crazy, but I couldn't help it, I LOVE snow. As I gazed at the foreign scene outside my window I couldn't help but think about snow's incredible gift to make everything appear beautiful. Even our trash cans sitting by the curb appeared pristine when dusted with sparkling powder. Now I know my tune may be different if I lived in a place that saw nothing but snow from October to March, but I hope that even those who are accustomed to snow still feel awe at the first snow of the season, and appreciate it's power to transform a scene. It's just beautiful, almost magical. Here's the even more amazing thing: this is how Christ sees us. We are told that our sins have been washed white as snow. When we feel ordinary, broken, dirty, or even useless, the Lord sees our beauty. If a little bit of snow can make trash cans appear beautiful to me, what more can Christ's redeeding blood do for our appearance?

Happy snow day! We're off to explore the  great outdoors, do some sledding, and maybe even build a snowman. Eeeeeek!

And that's what happens when a teacher marries a preacher...
